The now Monstercat producer has dabbled in drumming from an early age, citing influences like  Stewart Copeland, J Dilla, and Flying Lotus as highly inspirational in helping him craft the unique style we hear from him today. At the young age of 25, the producer has much more to share and unveil. With a laidback flow and a rebellious 808 snare pattern, we are relaxed and entertained listening to this eclectic gem. Please describe your sound for us.

Somewhere in the middle of electronic, hip-hop and punk.

How did it all start for you?

My dad saw me air-drumming in my car seat as a baby, and by the age of 6, I started playing the drums. I toured throughout my entire high school career, and then eventually moved to producing my own music and releasing it in 2018.

Which three artists would you say made you want to create your own music?

J Dilla, Flying Lotus and The Smiths.

What is your go-to gear/equipment when creating?

My laptop honestly, I don’t use much else when I produce. If I’m in my home studio, I’ll use the Ableton Push and Native Instruments Maschine, and a MIDI keyboard. Also a Strat too.

What are some of your key influences in your music? Whether it be the sound created by others, imagery, films or any kind of art form.

I focus a lot on energy…not really genres. I like to blend a lot of things together that usually don’t make sense as well. I also tend to lean towards darker themes and tones, so any piece of art that’s in that lane usually inspires me most.

What is one sub-genre you think doesn’t get the attention it deserves?

This genre definitely gets recognition but I often feel like ambient music is sometimes left out of the modern conversation regarding electronic music, and it’s one of my personal favourites.

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar?

KayCyy….he just did a three-song EP with Gesaffelstein called TW20 50 and it’s incredible.

What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a performer? As an attendee?

The night I moved in with Skrillex. It was such a surreal moment and changed my life forever.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

A whole bunch of OddKidOut releases, production for some great artists, and a new run of shows in the US.

Famous last words?

moke weed. 😁
