Downtempo house producers Klangkarussell have returned with another sultry single, this time drawing Poppy Baskomb into the mix. ‘This Love’ was released yesterday via their own Bias Beach imprint and follows the Amadeus Austrian Music Award-nominated single, ‘Home’. Coincidentally, the awards will be held on the 29th of April, the same day Klangkarussell will be appearing on stage with Booka Shade, Henri Bergmann and Undercatt in London and naturally, we find ourselves scrambling for tickets to be there to catch all the festivities in person. In a stunning move, AAMA have announced that they will no longer be holding an afterparty for the awards and the money will instead go towards helping their neighbour in need, Ukraine and their war efforts.
‘This Love’ brings all of the feel-good vibes needed during this time with gentle rolling tones and easy-listening lyrics. London-based Poppy Baskcomb’s vocals provide the perfect pairing as the occasional percussive element brings a light, Caribbean element that finds itself at home in all tropical house tracks. If you’re finding yourself itching for some more Klangkarussell sounds, we’d encourage you to check out their side project, GIVVEN who have recently released their debut EP, Losing Colours.
“This track was one of the first projects I was given as a writer nearly 5 years ago. So it’s so good to see it finally coming out. It means a lot to me as it’s the song that helped push my career within songwriting. The song is about standing by someone in their darkest times and loving them whether that be a romantic or platonic way. Just letting them know you’re there for them.” – Poppy Baskcomb on the meaning behind the single.
