Out on February 20, ‘Overstimulated‘ marks the final single before the release of LUMANISTA I, the debut EP from ZOCO, the international rock project founded by multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Marco Zocco, alongside his brothers Paolo and Matteo Zocco. Positioned as both an anthem and a warning, the track arrives as a defiant response to the culture of digital overload and instant gratification that defines modern life.
Blending punchy hard rock with urgent melodic hooks, ‘Overstimulated‘ channels the restless pulse of a generation addicted to distraction. Its driving rhythm, almost imperial in its march-like determination, anchors explosive guitar riffs layered with electronic textures and club-inspired synth patches. The fusion feels deliberate: analogue rebellion meeting digital chaos head-on. Marco’s charged vocal delivery carries both frustration and clarity, culminating in the striking oxymoron “altogether, all alone” and the unapologetic call to action to “get the f*ck off your phone.”
Lyrically, the song confronts dopamine-driven excess, social comparison, and endless scrolling—offering not just critique, but a demand to unplug and reclaim identity before numbness becomes permanent. It’s less a complaint than a battle cry, serving as an early wake-up call for 2026’s cultural hangover.
‘Overstimulated‘ follows the singles ‘Restless,’ ‘Diamond In The Rough,’ and ‘Searching,’ completing the four-track build-up to LUMANISTA I, which drops on March 6. The EP also includes an alternative “Nelson Version” of ‘Overstimulated,’ produced by Gunnar Nelson, further expanding the project’s sonic palette.
The upcoming release benefits from an impressive roster of collaborators. Production is helmed by Gunnar Nelson, with executive production by Kerry Brown (known for his work with Smashing Pumpkins). Co-production contributions come from Jake Pace, while legendary bassist Carmine Rojas (David Bowie, Rod Stewart) lends both creative input and performance. Guest appearances include GRAMMY-winning producer Theron “Neff-U” Feemster, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Guy Erez (Alan Parsons), London Hudson, and Slim Jim Phantom of Stray Cats—adding depth and cross-generational credibility to the project.
Born and raised in Geneva to American and Italian parents, Marco Zocco embodies an international identity. Fluent in four languages and holding three passports, his multicultural background informs ZOCO’s expansive sound. Signature guitar riffs sit alongside piano, synth layers, bass, and live drums, with unexpected flourishes—violins, organs, saxophones, rhythmic shifts, and dramatic key changes—shaping each track into a cinematic journey. Marco writes and performs all material himself, supported by his brothers and a rotating cast of collaborators who help bring his ambitious vision to life.
With ‘Overstimulated,’ ZOCO don’t just preview an EP—they set a thematic and sonic manifesto. It’s loud, confrontational, and unafraid to challenge the listener. In a world saturated with noise, they choose to fight it with even more volume—this time with purpose.
