The new cover is not cumbered by multiple musical instruments and this conjures to mind the simplicity of a winter day that is characterised by grey skies, transparent rain, or white snow. The piano lays gentle and steady support for the melody in ‘Winter’ (Tori Amos cover) and imparts in the song a rawness that is matched beautifully by the singer. The cover brings to my mind the celebration of victory in the aftermath of a bitter war against two enemies that seek to take the most treasured possessions from each other.

Ohio-based Hooked Like Helen discusses the creative impetuous that motivated the making of this cover: “When our friend/fitness instructor asked us to play “Winter” by the incomparable Tori Amos, within minutes of dissecting the first few bars of the song we quite frankly fell in love with it. We realised that it needed to become a more significant part of our musical journey and we decided to record a full-length cover of “Winter” for release to the world”.
