Cybèle unveiled her latest single, ‘Lovergirl’, on June 24. The French-American composer, producer and multidisciplinary artist grounds her sound in contemporary R&B and pop, weaving in elements of composition, storytelling and musical theatre. Her cross-cultural perspective, shaped by formative years in Paris, Beijing, Los Angeles and New York, informs both her artistry and her approach to collaboration. A Harvard graduate with further training at Berklee College of Music and currently completing her Master’s at Berklee NYC, Cybèle has cultivated a following of over 184,000, with international television features and recognition from the RFK Foundation and the Grammy Museum. Her partnerships span 88Rising, Prada Beauty and the Super Bowl, alongside her work as co-founder of The Mix, a Harvard-Berklee initiative supporting equity for emerging creatives, and commissions from the American Cancer Society. Musically, she draws inspiration from Kehlani and Victoria Monét, fusing modern pop and R&B with orchestral flourishes, gospel warmth and vintage soul, a blend often described as ABBA meets Michael Jackson with a hint of Tchaikovsky.

‘Lovergirl’ was co-written with Grammy-winning songwriter Tristan Rice, known for his work on Chris Brown’s 11:11. The collaboration emerged from candid discussions on love, identity and the challenges women encounter in balancing emotional openness with self-protection. The single explores themes of self-worth, vulnerability and growth, set against a backdrop that bridges contemporary R&B and dream-pop. Lush harmonies and atmospheric textures frame Cybèle’s expressive vocals, underscored by production that complement her smoky vocal textures.

Cybèle had this to say: “‘Lovergirl’ is about the journey of pain, beauty, and self-acceptance that comes with learning that love and discernment don’t always live in the same place. As women who love deeply, we have to learn to match our capacity for giving with our ability to recognise who is truly capable of receiving it. This song sits in that tension, and ultimately, in the grace of letting go.”
