Entrancing, charmingly untamed intricacies, genuine, and poignant can easily roll off the tongue when describing singer-songwriter Eulene’s debut self-titled EP that released last week. The EP is sure to resonate with the creative soul. Eulene celebrates vivacious electronic texturing and genre layering to create this larger than life electro-pop masterpiece that radiates with allure. That being said, not many can pull this sound off, Eulene sure has the stamina for it and is rocking it too.

Please describe your sound for us.

Alternative – a blend of electronic, disco, classical, pop, and experimental.

How did it all start for you?

After being in theatre, dance, and music projects for most of my youth,  I decided to be my own creator and director – and write my own show –  in songs.

What inspired your move from New York to Nashville, Tennessee?

This was a hard decision because NYC is my heart, but I felt pulled to be around the focused energy of the music community in Nashville.

Which three artists would you say made you want to create your own music?

Bjork, Blondie,  Fiona Apple

What is your go-to gear/equipment when creating?

My mic, a rhythm, and a bass guitar. These three give me a wide-open canvas to explore with melodies and cadences.

What are some of your key influences in your music? Whether it be the sound created by others, imagery, films or any kind of art form.

Music, old and new,  from classical to bluegrass to disco to experimental to mainstream all have been informative to how my music surfaces. I like to pick out the moment of a song that resonates for me and try and figure out how to bring that very feeling into my own songs.  I also love the art of fashion shows.  So much creativity in the clothing and presentations. Also photography. I love to hang in a bookstore and soak in photography books.

Tell us about the highlights of working with Angelo Petraglia?

Angelo is a super great vibe and is always ready to go with the idea at hand.  He is inherently and naturally gifted as a writer and musician with a ton of gear he loves to turn others onto and explore with. He dives in with his all and is also a lot of fun to work with.

What is one sub-genre you think doesn’t get the attention it deserves?

Folk

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar?

Though not exactly new, I think Finneas (of Billie Eilish) is really interesting.

What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a performer? As an attendee?

I haven’t yet played out with my project, but prior was a performance I did at the Viper Room in LA. Was a night! As an attendee, I was fortunate to see (and melt) to Sir Paul McCartney and the Bruno Mars show in 2019 – the energy  – blew me away.

If fans could take one message from your EP, what would you hope that would be?

Be free to create and express yourself without boundaries.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

I have a new project coming in 2021 but can’t yet share. News coming soon…

Famous last words?

Stay curious.
