Long-time friends and pop singer-songwriters Fox Revett and Laila Kharouba have teamed up for their first duet, ‘I Think I’m Missing’. The track marks Kharouba’s first release as a solo artist and is available on all streaming platforms this  Friday, December 16th.

The pop soundscape explores the loss of self and how we sacrifice our hopes and dreams in the pursuit of something easier. The track features rich and dreamy vocals from both Revett and Kharouba. The percussive elements take us from a legato dream state to a staccato state of confusion, representing the inner fight to find the self in a world that often pulls us away from who we really are.

“Fox played the song for me in the car before the release and it left me speechless. After my break up earlier this year (relationship and band), I totally connect with feeling like I’ve lost myself and my identity. I still feel that way,” says Kharouba. “I jokingly asked Fox if I could write a verse and he was all for it. Fox and I have been making music together since we were 16-year-old theatre kids. I’m so excited for this song to be my entrance into music as a solo artist.”

The song was originally recorded in Muskoka, during rainstorms. Revett is inspired by nature and wildlife, so sampled a lot of the outdoors’ sounds and ran them through programs like auto-tune to build instruments for the song.

“I Think I’m Missing” was written by Fox Revett, Adrian Morningstar (Birds of Bellwoods), Laila Kharouba (Your Paris), and produced by Fox Revett, with additional production by Adrian Morningstar, mixing by Vic Florencia (Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter), and mastering by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kacey Musgraves).

ABOUT FOX REVETT

A choir boy gone rogue, Fox Revett is a multi-instrumentalist inspired by classic singer-songwriters and ahead-of-the-curb hyper-pop trailblazers. This November alone, Fox has released the lead single “Breaking Point,” written and produced “Crying at the Radio” (Michaela May, AZTEC RECORDS), and wrapped production for his debut mixtape. For his mixtape, he is working with Canadian music heavy-weights Adrian Morningstar (Birds of Bellwoods), Jack Emblem (Jesse Gold, Daniel Caesar), and Vic Florencia (Olivia Rodrigo). In 2016, Fox was headhunted for his work as a writer of musical theatre and cabaret songs. Little did he know, the pop world was eagerly awaiting his earnest lyricism and his bombastic production style. His upcoming music explores themes of love, loss, sex, and isolation.
