British-Armenian artist Ripsime is closing out 2024 with her new single ‘Paradise’, a bold, experimental pop track that marks a significant evolution in her sound – released on December 6th, 2024. Following her debut EP Capsule I: Wicked and Wise in 2023, Ripsime has further refined her skills as both a songwriter and producer. ‘Paradise’ blends nostalgic 80s-inspired elements with modern alt-pop, establishing a unique balance of past and present influences.
The song represents a shift in Ripsime’s musical direction, incorporating more electronic and punk-infused elements while maintaining her signature introspective, emotionally charged lyrics. ‘Paradise’ serves as a heartfelt tribute to those lost too soon, exploring themes of eternal connection and the bittersweet realization that love transcends the physical realm. The track builds from lush guitars and synths into an epic full band sound, with intense reverb-soaked guitars leading to a euphoric climax.
With ‘Paradise’, Ripsime showcases her growth as an artist, blending genres and experimenting with sounds that are both nostalgic and fresh. Her empowering vocals, reminiscent of Kate Bush, guide the track through its emotional highs. Fans of Talking Heads, The Cure, and Kate Bush will find themselves drawn to the addictive melodies and dynamic energy of the song, which offers a glimpse into the exciting future of Ripsime’s evolving musical journey.
“I anchored this track with a solid bass foundation recorded on a Fender Precision by my bandmate, Luke,” shares Ripsime. “We embraced an 80s vibe with the drums, while Luke layered bass effects using various chorus and distortion pedals, perfectly matching the build-up to the drop. This became one of my favourite tracks to produce because it flowed so effortlessly.”
