PREMIERE: Pop band Royal Canoe shares refreshingly off-kilter music video

Imagine being kidnapped by a rabbit masked gang? What would the thoughts that cross your mind? Your head is covered and you are shaking with fear as you enter the unknown. Once the blinding cover is removed from your face, you see that you are part of a deal between the rabbit’s rival – the gang of masked wolves. There is a pause and suddenly these two opposing parties are having a groovy dance-off in front of your eyes – what a spectacle. Featured on their new album Sidelining via Birthday Cake Media, Royal Canoe’s track ‘Surrender’ has been accompanied by a delightfully unusual music video. This visual experience perfectly sums up this indie-pop band’s electric and off-kilter style.

Director Vince Tang shares: “It was an absolute honor to get a chance to work with Royal Canoe for a music video on their new single Surrender. They completely trusted and were open to my wacky idea for the video. I wanted something that reflected Surrender as a whole, something that reflected the sound of the song rather than the actual words sung. From my initial listen to Surrender, the song begins and I couldn’t really predict where the song is going and found that to be one of its best attributes. It was a very unique song in my opinion as it played out like a story with many twists and turns along the way. Therefore, unpredictability became the theme…”

‘Surrender’ features on the Spotify playlist POP_GROUND.fm
